Aravindh and Adam at what remains of Adam's family home in Pacific Palisades

In January 2025, the LA Fires destroyed Adam Freed's family home, along with over 12,000 others. He and co-founder Aravindh Dorai had been building technology for homeowners. But after the fires, the only question that mattered was: how do we help people right now? Within hours, Aravindh built the first version of Bevel's inventory tool. It took off immediately.

Fire survivors were struggling to remember what they had owned — making lists on legal pads, scrolling through old photos, trying to reconstruct a lifetime from memory. Bevel gave them a faster, less painful way to document everything for insurance.

Since then, Bevel has helped document over 3 million items representing more than $500 million in personal property value. But the real insight came from the families we worked with: most of them said the same thing — "I wish I had done this before."

That conviction is what drives Bevel today. We evolved from a recovery tool into a preparation platform — so that responsible homeowners can protect what matters most, before they ever have to.
